Yay!

I went out of town yesterday and just got home this morning. So I am exhausted but rather happy. I got so much knit stuff it is unfunny. Tons of new lovely lovely yarn, plus a package from knit picks I had been waiting for. Some new needs, I have to add them into my Ravelry account and a few books. I picked up a book on loom knitting and some DPNS and a book on sock knitting. I really want to give it a go. we shall see how I do.

I have tons of projects to post, Not too many are rock and roll. But that will come I hope. I need to make me a set of fingerless gloves. I am thinking the black sock yarn for that.

Well that is it. I need to do a lot of things on line, but I have to clean house and start dinner soon.

So

ROCK AND ROLL

Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Well I have been crafting non stop for the past two weeks. I finished my first loom thingy. Looming doesn't suck as much as I thought it did. I found myself a good cast on and bind off that I like so I just have to learn the knit stich next and I"ll make something else.

I am working on my rasta hat and I am kind of bored. I tihnk I will make food next. I feel like making food. I shall make a douhnut and coffee. And then some more dishcloths.

Meh

So a friend of mine loves loom knitting. So I went out and picked me up a set of the round looms. I wanted to share her love of her chosen craft. I can't stand it. All the blasted wrapping, then the yanking the yarn over the pegs with the little hook, then the wrapping again, then the yanking again. It is annoying.

With the needles there is not nearly so many extra steps, plus it is easier to hold. You don't have this big thing sitting in your lap, I don't know what to do with the ball of yarn. It doesn't feel like it is on the right side. My fingers get in the way of the wrapping. I am not going to quit. I am going to finish this scarf. It is going quickly. Maybe by the time I get done with the scaf, I'll like it.

Right now Loom knitting gets a 2 out of five stars.

Ninja Napped!

I was crocheting a Ninja for the boyfriend of the girl I am swapping with (holy convaluted sentence batman) Because I don't know much about him and well everyone likes Ninja's right?

Anyway. It was the last thing left and I just finished it like 20 minutes ago. And the hubby woke up and promptly stole it! Now I have to crochet another one. No big deal but damn. Didn't even ask. Just picked it up and walked out the door with it.

Projects

Cat blanket

in the mean time work on my swap patner.

In the mean time also work on my afghan! Whew I thought we had to do two projects for charms luckily we don't so I can knock out the book cover! That makes things better for me.

Swapping and Assignments

I got my partner. She is a young thing and a Kiwi. It is awesome. I am shipping my stuff half way around the world and spent most of last night after we got back from the party looking at patterns and her wish list and I think I am have a good idea what to get her! I hope to start today I just have to finish a dish cloth and then I will be good to go.

Then there is the Harry Potter House cup challenge over on Rav. I signed up for a few things. XD

Herbology Class

  1. Clean up your rav queue if you have one. Put it in order of what you will actually work on next, etc. If you have time also update your stash and needles lists as well.
  2. Organize your yarn stash. If you have yarn ready for projects make sure you have the pattern, needles, etc. Please take before and after shots of your physical organization. There are many resources online of how people organize their yarn and patterns. Now would be an excellent month to work on that.
  3. Make a 12 month plan of at least one project per month that you want to work on. Please post it in the same post along with either your before or after pic of your stash. Make sure you link those projects if you can.

Defense Against the Dark Arts

This month you will be learning the Imperius Curse: Go to our Group Members Page. Close your eyes. Click on a fellow Housecupper. Make something from their projects page. (Because it’s like the other Housecupper controlling you - but there’s a certain amount of agency, because you can choose what project you do…and also because if you hate everything, you could choose another person - we totally wouldn’t know.)

This is going to be fun. Can't wait o pick my person.

Charms Class

Expecto Patronum

1) Knitting or crocheting as a cure for seasonal depression. Self explanatory. Pretty much knit anything that will make YOU happy. May not be a gift for someone else. No matter how much you NEED to get a beret made by the 9th for your best friends birthday.
2) The patronus as a messenger charm: messenger bags or book covers. Plenty of patterns online.

Fun Fun.

Care of Magical Creatures

Knit or crochet something that will keep the magical creature in your home warm, such as a dog/cat sweater or coat, bird/critter cage cover, blanket, etc.

If you do not live with a magical creature, you may:

  • donate your item to your local animal shelter or rescue group
  • give the item to a family member or neighbor who lives with a magical creature
I plan to crochet Heather the cat toys she wanted. She has given me about 20 crochet cat toys she wants. LOL

Whew. that is actually not a lot, just looks like it. I could do my queue and my stash place in a weekend so I am not worried. I want the Astrological dishcloth for my sign that will be for charms. Cat toys for Heather and whatever I get "cursed" Into doing for DADA. Woot!
